SURF AND TURF PASTA Jan 7 Written By Leena Ahmed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2G5hF7I6oM PrintSURF AND TURF PASTAYield 4Prep time20 MinCook time25 MinTotal time45 MinIngredientsPasta:12 oz Pasta of choice1 - 1 1/2 lbs strip steakSalt and pepper to taste1 tsp olive oil1 lb peeled and deveined shrimpSauce:2 tsp old bay1/2 small onion (or shallot), chopped small1 Serrano, chopped small3 cloves garlic, minced1/3 cup vegetable broth1/4 cup crème fraîche (or heavy cream)2 oz Parmesan cheese, gratedGarnish with shredded parmesan and chopped cilantroInstructionsDirections:Cook pasta to al dente according to the package instructions. Once done, drain, reserving pasta water. Set aside.Season shrimp with Old Bay evenly. Set aside.Season steak generously with salt and pepper. Add olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steaks on all sides for about 2 minutes. Add steak weight to sear and shift them to the side of the pan to make room for the shrimp.To the pan, add seasoned shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 4 to 5 minutes, as the steak continues to cook. Once the shrimp is done, remove shrimp and steak from the pan and set aside.To the same pan add onion (or shallot), serrano pepper, garlic and sauté for about 2 to 3 minutes. Then add vegetable broth, continuing to scrape the bottom of the pan to deglaze, and cook for another 2 minutes. Next, add crème fraiche (or cream), parmesan cheese and stir until fully incorporated into the sauce and it comes to a gentle simmer. Add the cooked pasta to the pan and fully coat with the sauce.Return shrimp to the pan, right on top of the pasta, then nest the steak strips right on top.
