POTATOES GRATIN

Ingredients

  • 3 large russet potatoes

  • 3 large sweet potatoes

  • 1 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 4 Tbsp butter, melted

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 pound gruyere cheese, grated

  • Salt to taste

  • Pepper to taste

  • dried rosemary, to taste
    fresh thyme, to taste 

 

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 10 inch baking dish.

Step 2

Peel russet potatoes and sweet potatoes. Thinly slice the potatoes. It’s best to use a mandoline. Rinse the sliced potatoes with ice water.

Step 3

In a medium size mixing bowl thoroughly combine heavy cream, melted butter and grated cheese. In the baking pan, layer half the sliced potatoes, pour half the cream mixture on top, sprinkle salt and pepper, rosemary, thyme and half of the cheese. Repeat layering.

Step 4

Cover the pan, place in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, add another layer of cheese and broil on high for 1 minute.
