SPICY FISH SANDWICH May 1 Written By Leena Ahmed https://www.youtube.com/shorts/cev2Tma6fxs PrintSPICY FISH SANDWICHYield 4Prep time15 MinCook time10 MinTotal time25 MinIngredientsNashville Hot Fried Fish:8-3oz cod fillets, rinsed and patted dry with paper towelsKosher salt and black pepper to taste½ cup self rising flour, divided6 Tbsp potato starch1 tsp baking powder2 Tbsp nashville hot seasoning blend1/2 tsp salt1/2 tsp cracked black pepper⅔ cup club soda2 Tbsp nashville hot seasoning2 Tbsp hot cooking oil from the frierSlaw:1 cup shredded cabbage and carrots1 Tbsp red wine vinegar1 Tbsp mayonnaise1 tsp nashville hot seasoningCreamy Sauce:1 Tbsp mayonnaise1 tsp dijon mustard½ tsp worcestershire sauceInstructionsIn a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, starch, baking powder, spice blend and salt and pepper until combined. While whisking, pour in the carbonated water and continue whisking till the batter is nice and smooth. Add in a couple ice cubes to keep the batter extra cold before breading the fish.Heat a dutch oven or fryer with 4 cups of oil over high heat till it reaches 350F. Working in batches, dip the fish filets into the batter, let any excess drip off then immediately add the fish to the fryer, placing the fish in the oil away from you so as not to splash any hot oil.Fry for 8-10 minutes till golden brown and cooked through, split one open to check for doneness, continue the process until all the fish is fried.In a small bowl add 2 Tbsp of Nashville hot seasoning blend, then pour in 2 Tbsp of the hot oil from the fryer and stir to combine. Paint this spiced oil onto the fish right after they come out of the fryer.Add the shredded cabbage and carrots to a medium mixing bowl, toss with the vinegar, mayonnaise and spice blend till coated and combined and set aside.
