Ingredients

Cheese Fillings:

  • 8 oz feta

  • 6 oz chicago cheese (or mozzarella)

  • 2 Tbsp melted butter

To Finish:

  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley

  • 1 egg

  • 16 oz bread dough (store bought)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a baking sheet and set aside. To make the cheese filling, shred both cheeses on a box grater and put into a mixing bowl. Drizzle in melted butter, parsley, and egg. Stir together until thoroughly combined. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use. Using a dough cutter, divide the bread dough into 16 even pieces.

Step 2

Lightly flour a clean work surface. Working with one piece of dough at a time, use a rolling pin to stretch and roll dough out into a circle about 4” to 5” in diameter.

Step 3

Spread about 2 tablespoons of the cheese filling down the center of the dough to within 1” of the edges. Be sure not to spread all the way to the end of the dough. Then, pinch the ends together to create a boat shape, and keep a small 1 inch opening at the center, and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.

Step 4

Bake the fatayer until lightly browned, about 10 to 12 minutes. Then broil for another 30 seconds to 1 minute. Serve warm.
