CHICKEN WING WAFFLES
Ingredients
2 lb Chicken Wings
Seasoning Mixture:
4 tsp garlic powder
4 tsp paprika
2 tsp black pepper
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp Sazon or seasoning salt
Batter:
2 cups Buttermilk
1/4 cup Hot Sauce
2 cups AP flour
1 cup potato or corn starch
1 cup premade pancake/waffle mix
3/4 cup water
Directions
Step 1
Heat a large dutch oven of frying oil to 350°F
Step 2
Make the seasoning mixture by combining garlic powder, paprika, pepper, chili powder and seasoning salt. In a large bowl, combine the chicken wings with buttermilk, hot sauce and half of the seasoning mixture, stir to combine and coat the wings. Let sit for 20 minutes and up to 24 hours
Step 3
Make dry batter by combining flour, starch and the other half of the seasoning mixture. Stir to combine. Add chicken wings into dry batter. Toss to fully coat.
Step 4
Fry the wings for about 8 to 10 minutes each batch. Don’t overcrowd the oil. Fry in batches if necessary. Drain chicken wings on a wire rack and season with a sprinkle of salt.
Step 5
Make waffle batter by combining premade mix and water. Dip cooked chicken wing 3/4 into the waffle batter without covering the end. Place into a waffle maker and gently press. Cook until golden brown. Serve with syrup and enjoy!
